What We Do
At Sew She Can, we believe creativity has the power to transform lives. Our programs go beyond teaching sewing skills to provide opportunities for growth, independence, and confidence for people from underserved communities... including immigrants, refugees, domestic abuse survivors, LGBTQ+ individuals, and anyone navigating life transitions.
Our approach combines hands-on skill-building with mentorship, entrepreneurship, and meaningful work.
Participants gain practical tools, creative expression, and economic opportunities that help them imagine and shape their own futures.
Our Story
When our founder, Shweta 'Cricket' Green, moved to Spokane, she noticed something missing. While quilting had a strong local following, there were few—if any—accessible avenues for learning sewing, fashion design, or garment construction…
Our Vision
What started as simple sewing lessons soon evolved into something much greater. At Sew She Can, we offer…
-
Hands-on instruction that meets professional industry standards
-
A safe space for women to express themselves through textile arts
-
Support in pricing, branding, selling, and launching micro-businesses
-
Opportunities to contribute to small-batch, fair trade production
